VH1 Supersonic India

VH1 Supersonic India 2023 brought global and Indian talent together in Pune, with international headliners Anne-Marie and CKay leading a lineup built to give music lovers a festival they would talk about long after the last set. Our cameras were across the grounds, so the festival lives on as a film as well as a memory.

Concept

Festival culture in India was growing fast, and Pune, with its rising music scene, was the right city to meet it. A recent survey found that 65% of young Indian consumers look for festivals that combine music with lifestyle experiences, and that insight shaped the design of VH1 Supersonic India 2023, which celebrated local and international talent side by side and brought people together through music, art and creativity. Every corner of the festival was designed to be experienced and to be filmed.

Event

Curated by Hammerhead, the lineup paired global stars Anne-Marie and CKay with local legends Divine, Prateek Kuhad and Farhan Akhtar, and its genres ran from EDM to reggae, so every kind of listener found a set to follow. Art, food and fashion were woven into the grounds, which made the festival feel as diverse as it was immersive and gave our crew a world worth filming between the sets as much as during them.

Multiple Stages

Five stages ran in parallel, each tuned to a different genre. The BUDX Spectrum Stage carried techno and house, the Reggae Stage kept things laid-back and the Cirque De Social Stage mixed genres freely. Each one added a layer to the festival and had a look of its own, so moving between them felt like traveling through different worlds, and the festival film cuts between them the same way.

  • Anne-Marie and CKay made their Indian debut, drawing music lovers from across the country, and our cameras were there for it.
  • Stages tuned to different genres, from EDM and techno to reggae and eclectic mixes, gave the festival a musical journey of its own and the film its changing moods.
  • Art, fashion and gaming elements ran through the grounds, turning the festival into a lifestyle and cultural destination and giving the footage something to hold onto between performances.

Pushing Boundaries in Event Management

Our work is curating experiences that go past the ordinary, and VH1 Supersonic was a chance to show what an event can do when it crosses several dimensions of culture at once. With production and event management under one roof, the festival made a statement that stayed with attendees long after they left, and the content we produced kept that statement in circulation.

Navigating the Challenge

Every minute at VH1 Supersonic carried a surprise. Artists landed late, the weather shifted without warning, equipment needed fixing on the spot and 20,000 people were on site. Five stages meant five parallel worlds running at once, each deserving equal attention, and communication had to move faster than the music, between the stage teams and the camera crews alike. The real test was adaptation more than control, reading the rhythm of the crowd and keeping the whole festival in sync, whether in the field or in the frame.

Creating Impact Beyond the Event

The festival’s impact reached well beyond the grounds. Through event IP creation and the content that came out of it, VH1 Supersonic engaged audiences digitally and extended its reach far past Pune. Brand partnerships were amplified along the way, which helped secure long-term engagement and a place for the festival in India’s cultural calendar.

A 6000 sqft Space of Unmatched Energy

Held at Mahalakshmi Lawns, the venue welcomed more than 20,000 attendees. The festival transformed the grounds into a place where music and art merged, and our cameras moved through it to capture a space where creativity and energy flowed freely.
